Employee Is Killed When Struck and Run over by Car

On July 20, 2005, an employee, a landscape laborer, was performing maintenance adjacent to a parking lot on the northeast side of the Defined Fitness building, in Rio Rancho. An elderly couple left the Applebee's Restaurant, located next door to Defined Fitness, and while exiting the parking lot, lost control of the car, went over a curb and median, about 8-ft wide, covered in bushes, and struck the employee from behind. The employee was killed.
