Employee's Leg Is Burned from Radiator Fluid

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on September 18, 2006, an employee was sitting in the driver's seat of a motor home performing a radiator leak test while a coworker was underneath the motor home. The employee had the cover removed on the engine. While the motor was running, the hose on top of the engine blew and burnt his legs on his shins with hot radiator fluid. The manager was working at his desk in the office at the time of the accident. The employee went to his brother's shop right after the exposure, and his brother transported him to the US Health Works in Santee. The physician decided to have the employee transported to UCSD Burn Center in San Diego for treatment for about 2 weeks. Equipment and materials used were shop hand tools, radiator hose, motor home and an engine with a cover.
