Investigation Nr: 200642106
Event: 07/26/2001
Employee dies from heat attack resulting from heat

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on July 26, 2001, Employee #1 and another coworker were stacking tires for about two hours. Afterwards, Employee #1 started feeling faint and then experiencing chest pains. Employee #2 took him to the office manager's office, so that he could lay down. Employee #1 was given a couple of aspirins to relieve the pain. Emergency medical services were delayed per Employee #1 request. However, after awhile, Employee #1 began unresponsive and he was administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Another individual summoned the emergency medical services. The emergency medical services arrived and continued performing CPR on Employee #1. Employee #1 was then taken to the hospital. At the hospital, doctors were unable to restart his heart and he died from cardiac arrest initiated by the myocardium infarction (heart attack).
