Employee Is Killed When Crushed in Paper Machine

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on June 22, 2001, Employee #1 was making a splice, by hand, on the #1 paper machine. The roll of paper being spliced weighed approximately 2000 pounds. The nip point between the rotating front drum and the paper roll caught him and pulled him into the paper machine, crushing him to the waist and killing him.
