Employee Suffers Back Pains in Fall from Pole

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on December 29, 2009, Employee #1 was installing and securing cables on power poles. He climbed the pole with a full body harness. He was ready to come down, lifted one foot and stepped on the built in metal step on the pole. He then held on to the strand and unhooked his personal fall arrest. While pulling his body up to put his other foot on a metal step, the J-hook came off the pole which was rotten. Employee #1 fell and was hospitalized with back pains.
