Employee Lacerates Head When Metal Gate Falls

At 7:47 a.m. on January 13, 2009, Employee #1 was opening a metal gate to get the business ready for the day. He was the first person who arrived to the shop. The gate moved a little slower than normal. So Employee #1 pushed harder to open it. He pushed so hard that the front end of the gate passed through the stopper. When the gate started tilting, Employee #1 tried to hold it and push it back to its previous position, but it was too heavy for him. The gate fell slowly and pinned Employee #1 to the ground. A pedestrian saw the accident, came, and lifted the gate to release Employee #1. He sustained a minor laceration to the right side of his head, as well as bruises to his right ribs and arm. Employee #1 was taken to Centinela Hospital and was released after two hours.
