Worker Receives Electric Shock after Grabbing Power Line

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on August 16, 2005, Employee #1, a fumigator of J.C. Fumigation, Inc., was placing a tarp over a three-story apartment complex. While draping the tarp over the east side of the building, Employee #1 threw the tarp over an energized 1,500 V power line that was approximately seven feet away from the side of the building. When he attempted to retrieve the tarp, Employee #1 grabbed the power line. He was hospitalized for electric shock and second and third degree burns on his right hand and abdomen.
