ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE

A self-employed welder was installing a cyclone dust collector at a tire recapping plant. The dust collector contacted a 7200-volt overhead power line. The welder, who was touching the dust collector at the time, received an electric shock and burns to his arms, back, stomach, and legs. He was hospitalized, and his right hand and left arm were amputated as a result of his injuries.
