Employee Is Injuried in Fall While Unloading Forklift

At approximately 2:51 p.m. on December 9, 2004, Employee #1 was working for Burgmeier Construction in Culver City, CA. The employee was working on the second level of a construction site removing 2-ft by 6-in. nominal lumber from the forks of a rough terrain forklift. The employee was working from the leading edge of the deck when he lost his balance and fell 20 ft. The employee was transported to UCLA Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for a fractured back, right leg, nose, and jaw. Employee #1 was not provided any means of fall protection.
