Employee loses Two Toes after Pipe Crushes Them

An employee was working at a natural gas drilling operation. The employee was injured when a 4-in. (outside diameter), 60-foot-long heavy wall drill pipe weighing 1,700 pounds fell onto his foot. The employee sustained partial amputation of two toes of the right foot as a result of medical complications arising from laceration injuries.
