Farm worker killed and another injured in head-on collision

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on May 24, 2001, two farm workers were involved in a head-on collision while driving Honda 200 all terrain vehicles. The accident happened along a dirt road between two alfalfa fields. One employee was heading south along a road away from a water pumping station and the other employee was driving north along the road toward the pumping station. One farm worker was air-lifted to Washoe medical Center in Reno, Nevada with massive head injuries. He died the following day. The other employee was also taken to Washoe Medical Center with head injuries and a broken leg. They met head-on along the road with very little evasive action being taken.
