Employee injured from ricocheted nail out of nail gun

On August 20, 2001, Employee #1 was operating a pneumatic nailing gun to attach a chair molding to corridor wall. As he was operating the device, a nail ricocheted off wall and molding and punctured his right eye. His safety glasses were positioned on top of this head, and not on his eyes. He was hospitalized for medical treatment in the extracting of the object and the repairing of the damaged tissue, as well as for postoperative care.
