Employee Fractures Pelvis in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on February 24, 2005, Employee #1 was painting metal brackets on an overhead beam while standing on an extension ladder. The ladder was a 24-ft Werner extension ladder and it was leaning against the wall without being secured. The top of the overhead beam was located 11-ft, 9-in. from the floor. The ladder slipped from under Employee #1's feet and he fell approximately 9 ft to the floor. Employee #1 sustained a fractured pelvis and was hospitalized for one week.
