Employee's finger amputated while cleaning conveyor

At approximately 4:50 a.m. on January 3, 1994, Employee #1 had completed his production run of small bakery buns and, rather than be idle, decided to clean the flour and excess dough from the model K #2 bun machine conveyor. He removed the guard from the conveyor and reached inside when his right little finger became caught between a chain and sprocket. Employee #1's right pinkie fingertip was amputated. The employer is being cited for a serious violation of T8CCR 3314(a) because the bun machine was not stopped and de-energized prior to cleaning.
