Employee Falls Off Pole and Is Injured

On August 14, 2013, Employee #1 was performing training to obtain his climbing certification. He climbed to the top of the pole and attached his fall protection at the top of the pole. Employee #1 was instructed to circle left when his right gaff gave way. He fell off the pole, falling approximately 30 ft. He sustained two compression fractures in his spine from the fall. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center, where he received treatment and was then hospitalized for three days.
