Employee injured in fall from stepladder, later dies

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on July 7, 1996, Employee #1, of R.W. Construction, was on the second floor of the Federal Building, plastering the southwest wall of the hallway near room 2054. He was descending a 3 ft mechanic's ladder when he apparently missed a step and fell, injuring his neck. He was hospitalized first at USC Medical Center, and was then transferred to Kaiser Permanente Hospital, where he remained until his death on August 13, 1996. Employee #1's fall had triggered complications of an existing heart problem.
