Event: 12/16/1993

Employee is struck and killed by bus

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on December 16, 1993, Employee #1 was walking in a northeasterly direction with a coworker, traversing the driving apron north of the bus barn, when he was struck and run over by a bus. The bus was driven by a "cleaner" who drove it out of door #4 and turned 180 degrees to park it behind another bus outside service aisle #3. Employee #1 was taken by ambulance to the Methodist North Lake Campus Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 11:38 p.m. The driver of the bus was unaware that an accident had occurred until he stopped the bus to park it. Employees are allowed to walk across the apron by any route they choose.
