EMPLOYEE CUTS FINGER ON TABLE SAW

AT APPROXIMATELY 3:50 PM ON AUGUST 18, 1992, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS OPERATING A DELTA TABLE SAW WITH A 10-INCH BLADE. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS CUTTING 15-INCH STRIPS FROM A 4-FOOT BY 8-FOOT PIECE OF SOUND BOARD. EMPLOYEE #1 COMPLETED A CUT, TURNED THE POWER OFF, AND STEPPED AROUND TO THE LEFT OF THE TABLE TO REMOVE THE CUT PRODUCT. EMPLOYEE #1 INDICATED THAT AS HE STEPPED, HE LOST HIS BALANCE AND HIS RIGHT HAND HIT THE UNGUARDED BLADE, WHICH WAS SLOWING TO A STOP. EMPLOYEE #1 RECEIVED A CUT TO HIS RIGHT INDEX FINGER, REQUIRING 13 STITCHES AND FOLLOW-UP VISITS TO THE DOCTOR.
