Employee injured in fall while descending ladder

Employee #1, a foreman on a home construction site, was descending a ladder after finishing work on the deck of the house. Apparently, he misstepped or somehow lost his footing and fell about 14 ft to the ground. He sustained injuries that required surgery and other treatment, and was hospitalized for 5 days. Employee #1 later stated that he was not carrying anything or descending quickly. The ladder had been purchased new 2 days before the accident. Employee #1 had 11 years of job experience.
