Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170202972
Event: 09/16/1991
Employee's leg fractured when caught by tractor disk

At or about 10:30 a.m. on September 16, 1991, Employee #1 was handpicking green tomatoes in a tomato field. As he was picking the roadways carrying two buckets, a disking operation was also in progress. The driver of the tractor pulling the disk, an employee of the owner of the land being harvested, had requested all pickers to move from the area. Apparently, Employee #1 did not move far enough away from the disk area; the tractor's disk caught Employee #1's lower left leg. He sustained a fracture and was hospitalized.
