Pilot killed in crash of small airplane

In the early morning hours of January 14, 1995, Employee #1, a 28-year-old pilot for Coastal Airways of Sequim, WA, was flying a Cessna 172N. He had three passengers on board a chartered flight that was en route to SEA-TAC International Airport. The plane crashed into Blyn Mountain, east of Sequim, killing Employee #1 and two passengers. A third passenger survived and is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The cause of the crash is under investigation by National Transportation Safety Board and will not be determined for seven months.
