Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 964445
Event: 11/15/1989
ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU LADDER

Two employees were installing an aluminum gutter on the roof of a two-story garage. One of the employees descended their ladder to the freshly hydro-seeded, damp ground. As he was repositioning the 7.3-meter-long, aluminum extension ladder, he slipped, and the ladder contacted a 7000-volt overhead power line. The employee received an electric shock and sustained burns on the biceps of his left arm and on the bottoms of his feet. He was hospitalized for his injures.
