US Department of Labor honors Montana safety professionals group
for continued commitment to workplace safety, health
American Society of Safety Professionals' Big Sky Chapter named OSHA ambassador
BILLINGS, MT – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has named the American Society of Safety Professionals' Big Sky Chapter an OSHA Alliance Program Ambassador in recognition of its partnership with OSHA and commitment to addressing workplace safety and health hazards in Montana.
As an ambassador, ASSP's Big Sky Chapter will promote enforcement, regulatory and outreach initiatives, enhance information exchanges and joint technical discussions, and support OSHA's national initiatives. OSHA's Billings Area Office began collaborating with ASSP's Big Sky Chapter in February 2012 when the chapter entered into its first OSHA safety alliance.
“OSHA is confident that its continued partnership with the Big Sky Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals will ensure workplace safety and health training remain a top priority throughout Montana,” said OSHA Area Office Director Arthur Hazen in Billings, Montana. “We will use all of our available tools and strategies to prevent workplace-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities and ensure all workers go home safely each day to their loved ones.”
ASSP is a global association for occupational safety and health professionals that for more than a century has provided education, standards development, advocacy and a professional community to support the advancement of their members and the profession as a whole.
“Sound safety practices are both socially responsible and good business, leading to increased productivity, a better reputation and higher employee satisfaction,” said Big Sky Chapter's Alliance Coordinator Kirby Fugle.
OSHA Alliance Program Ambassadors commit to sharing timely and relevant safety and health information with members, and work collaboratively with members and stakeholders on emerging issues. Learn more about OSHA's Alliance Program, and view the list of national alliances and program ambassadors.
