US Department of Labor, Amarillo College establish alliance to promote safety training for students, workers, employers
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has signed an alliance agreement with Amarillo College that focuses on providing safety training and hazard identification skills for students, employers and workers.
Under the three-year agreement, signed on June 26, 2025, the alliance will provide free safety training classes and continuing education courses on protecting workers from a range of occupational hazards, including falls, electrocution, being struck by objects, and other risks in the construction, oil and gas, and general industry sectors. Alliance participants will share best practices and effective safety strategies through workshops, seminars and lectures. The alliance will also promote worker engagement in OSHA's cooperative programs, such as on-site compliance assistance, Voluntary Protection Programs, and partnership initiatives.
"We are excited to announce the formation of a new alliance with Amarillo College, focused on increasing safety awareness among students and workers," said OSHA Area Director Elizabeth Linda Routh in Lubbock, Texas. "This alliance represents a commitment to provide essential training in hazard identification techniques, empowering individuals to recognize and minimize risks in their work environments."
OSHA's Alliance Program helps the agency develop working relationships with organizations that are committed to workplace safety and health. These groups include trade and professional associations, labor unions, educational institutions, community and faith-based groups, and government agencies.
Alliance participants work with OSHA to provide workers and employers with information, guidance, and resources to promote safety and health in workplaces. Alliances also ensure that workers know their rights and employers understand their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
