- Title:Extension of Administrative Stay for Final Rule on Occupational Exposure to Formaldehyde
The Administrative Stay for the final rule on occupational exposure to formaldehyde, paragraphs (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4)(ii), has been extended an additional 90 days, until 6/9/91. While the stay is in effect, affected employers must continue to comply with the provisions of OSHA''s Hazard Communication Standard. The final rule was published 12/4/87 (52 FR 46168). However, in response to public comments, on 12/ 13/88 OSHA announced an administrative stay of paragraphs (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4)(ii) for a period of 9 months, and also its intention to revoke the paragraphs, and to invite comments on replacing them with the Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) or another equally protective alternative which would be less confusing to the public. The stay was subsequently extended (8/29/89; 6/13/90; 8/10/90; 12/17/90; and now, 3/12/91) so that OSHA''s evaluation process can be completed. CONTACT: James Foster (202)523-8151.
