OSHA has extended the administrative stay of 29 CFR 1910.1048(m)(1) (i) through (m)(4)(ii), Occupational Exposure to Formaldehyde, for an additional 60 days. The stay will be effective until August 13, 1990. While this stay is in effect, employers must continue to comply with the provisions of OSHA''s Hazard Communication Standard. An administrative stay of the cited paragraphs was first announced 12/13/ 88, along with the intention to revoke the paragraphs and invite comments on replacing them with the Hazard Communication Standard (1910. 1200) or another equally protective alternative. The stay was subsequently extended until 6/13/90. Additional time is required to complete the re-evaluation and the stay is extended to 8/13/90. Contact: James Foster 523-8151.
