FACOSH meets at least twice during the year to discuss safety and health issues affecting the federal sector. Each meeting is announced in the Federal Register at least 15 days before the meeting date, and is posted on the FACOSH meetings web page. The meetings are usually held in the Department of Labor's Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
Next meeting. The next meeting of FACOSH is being planned for the Spring of 2015. The meeting's date and tentative agenda will be announced in the Federal Register at a future date. All FACOSH meetings are open to the public. Once the definitive date for the meeting is determined and is announced in the Federal Register, please notify Dr. Robert Nester, at email@example.com of your intention to attend the Spring 2015 meeting.
Past meetings. FACOSH met on November 6, 2014. In brief, FACOSH received status reports from the Emerging Issues Subcommittee, the Presidential Initiative - POWER, and Whistleblower Protection Programs. It deliberated on the Ebola outbreak and its implications for federal agencies. The Council accepted the resignation of Ms. Rhea Suh - U.S. Department of the Interior, from the Council. On July 15, 2014, the Secretary of Labor appointed six new members to FACOSH, including three labor and three management members, each to a three year term, expiring on December 31, 2016. The new labor members are: Ms. Carolyn D. Bland-Bowles, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; Mr. Dennis Phelps, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and Mr. Mark Segall, National Association of Agriculture Employees. The new management members are: Mr. Wesley Carpenter, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Ms. Maureen Sullivan, U.S. Department of Defense; and Dr. Wayne Quillin, U.S. Department of State. These appointments will be further announced through the Federal Register.
The current charter for FACOSH ends September 30, 2015.
