The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Oklahoma City, OK Area Office (hereafter referred to as OSHA) and The Oklahoma Local Section of The American Industrial Hygiene Association (hereafter referred to as OKAIHA) continue to recognize the value of maintaining a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. To that end, OSHA and OKAIHA hereby renew the Alliance signed August 21, 2012 and renewed August 21, 2014, with a continued emphasis on safety and health training. Specifically, both organization(s) are committed to providing OKAIHA members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers and understand the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act). Through the Alliance, the organizations will continue to address occupational safety and health issues. This renewal agreement provides a framework and objectives for the Alliance's activities. Alliance participants will summarize specific activities and timeframes for completion in a written work plan.

Training and Education: Emerging safety and health issues Activity Type Activity Name/Summary OSHA Areas of Emphasis Supported Number Reached 04/21/2016 OKAIHA Spring Conference, Oklahoma City, OK featured presenters from Academia that spoke on estimating employee exposures; managing limited EHS resources; and an OSHA Update provided by David Bates, Area Director. Jorge Delucca, CAS, shared his experience in the US Air Force with estimating employee exposure as well as conducting an OSHA Industrial Hygiene inspection. Management of Safety & health programs
06/16/2016 Oklahoma Health and Safety Conference, Cox Business Center, Tulsa OK, sponsored by the Oklahoma Safety Council (OSC) - OKAIHA Local Section President, Dr. Charles Marshall CIH, delivered a Break Out Session to Conference participants that included the Industrial Hygiene Professional Path (an AIHA initiative) and the implementation of OSHA 1910 and 1926 Standards with Written IH Program Requirements. An emphasis was placed on fostering skills for "What Safety Professions Need To Know About Industrial Hygiene," which was part of the OSC Conference's Training / Certificate Program. Industrial Hygiene, Promotion of OSHA Standards with IH Requirements, Industrial Hygienist Career Development (i.e. AIHA Pro Path), and Training.
OKAIHA disseminated information regarding the announcement of free OSHA training facilitated by the Oklahoma Safety Council:

11/12/2015 Oklahoma Federal Field Safety and Health Council (OFFSHC) Meeting, FAA Center in OKC, OK. OKAIHA Local Section President Elect, Dr. Charles Marshall CIH, presented a briefing entitled: "Update Your EH&S Program – Current Topics Impacting Industrial Hygiene." This activity emphasized modernizing a Safety Management System to include Hazard Assessment and Risk Management approaches that are not solely based on exposures measurements but based more on risks to employee from potential exposures. 06/15/2016 A dinner meeting was held, featuring guest speaker, Denise Deeds who provided an informational update, regarding the progression of HAZCOM 2012 requirements, and a status update on progression of the new SDS requirement. HAZCOM 2012/GHS
Outreach and Communication: Commenting on Proposed Rule Making Activity Type Activity Name/Summary OSHA Areas of Emphasis Supported Number Reached 01/07/2016 Dr. Charles Marshall, 2016 OKAIHA President attended Public Hearing set by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF). Dr. Marshall presented written and oral comments that included comments from The National AIHA and the Local OKAIHA Section's Past President, Dr. Hal Poovey. The written Position Statement provided by the OKAIHA included proposed rulemaking by ODAFF. The focus of the comments addressed recommendations on the use and application of pesticide (specifically "application of antimicrobial agents), and licensing requirements that would require an Industrial Hygienist to provide recommendations on the use and application of a pesticide. This alliance has resulted in a very close relationship and cooperation between OSHA and members of OKAIHA which encompass representatives of academia, industry and other federal agencies.
The Conferences on the "Regulatory Update" have provided valuable information to attendees regarding the various aspects of OSHA activities and emerging issues as well as Environmental Compliance and Workers Compensation.
The Spring Conference and dinner and lunch meetings with guest speakers provided education and outreach on Industrial Hygiene exposure estimating, youth safety programs and the OSHA VPP program.
