Overview:
The U.S. Department of Labor's (US DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), represented by the Atlanta Regional, Atlanta-East, Atlanta-West and Savannah, GA, Area Offices, the Georgia Tech Research Institute's Occupational Safety and Health Division (GTRI), Southeast Center for Young Worker Safety and Health, and The Concerned Beauty & Barber Professionals (The CBBP), and (hereafter all parties shall be referred to as The CBP Alliance) formed an Alliance to provide The CBBP members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers, particularly by reducing and preventing exposure to products that contain hazardous chemicals. Emphasis will also be placed on effectively communicating these issues to hard-to-reach groups, such as youth and Vietnamese workers.

Implementation Team Meetings
Implementation team meeting were conducted during this period on the following dates:
8/8/2017; 10/24/2017; 1/31/2018 and 4/24/2018
In addition to these formal meetings, the Alliance coordinators from both groups maintained regular contact throughout the reporting period to monitor the Alliance's progress and results.

Results
The following table summarizes the Alliance's activities in support of the goals in the Alliance agreement.
Training and Education: The Participants intend to work together to achieve the following training and education goal:
- To develop effective training and education programs for The CBBP members and others regarding reducing and preventing worker exposure to hazardous products. Emphasis will be placed on effectively communicating these issues to hard-to-reach groups, such as youth and Vietnamese workers.
- To support The CBBP in the delivery of health and safety training focused on the prevention of worker exposure to hazardous products.

This training session was led by Susan Arnold and it focused on several industrial hygiene topics. This training session was led by Tom Bosley and it focused on workplace safety and health. This training session was led by a representative from the Boston Public Health Commission and it focused on several industrial hygiene topics. This training session was led by Hilarie Warren and it focused on several health concerns in the industry. This training session was led by Susan Arnold and it focused on several industrial hygiene topics. Monday School Schedule for 2017 – 2018 is listed above (this activity is conducted at 11am EST) Outreach and Communication: The Participants intend to work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals:
- To develop information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and to develop ways of communicating such information (e.g., print and electronic media, electronic assistance tools, and OSHA's and The CBP Web sites) to employers and workers in the industry.
- To speak, exhibit, or appear at OSHA's or The CBBP conferences, local meetings, or other events.

Upcoming Milestones for 2018 - 2019
- The Alliance group will continue to conduct outreach to CBBP members and others regarding their potential exposure to hazardous products. Emphasis will be placed on effectively communicating these issues to hard-to-reach groups, such as youth and Vietnamese workers.
- The Alliance group will continue to promote its OSHA Alliance to CBBP members and others in the beauty industry.
- During this period, the Alliance group will attempt to develop and implement an updated environmental, health and safety curriculum for beauty professionals.
