The pilot grantee will develop expertise and provide training on occupational safety and health hazards in the health care industry to health care workers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Training will address identification and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards.

The pilot grantee will develop expertise and provide training to workers on hazards in the nail salon and construction industries. The grantee will provide training to high-risk and limited-English workers. Training and materials will be developed for a low literacy audience and be provided in Korean, Spanish, and Nepali.

The pilot grantee will develop expertise and provide training to retail grocery industry workers in Santa Clara County, California. The grantee will develop training on the prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses in the forestry services industry. Training will include the prevention of chain saw cuts, heat stress, musculoskeletal disorders, traumatic injuries from falling branches and trees, traumatic injuries from vehicular accidents, and poison oak rashes. The training and/or materials will be offered in English and Spanish.

The grantee will build long term health and safety capacity and provide 1- to 5-hour training sessions to immigrant and limited-English workers and small businesses in the Hispanic community in New York. The grantee will build long term health and safety capacity and provide introductory safety and health training to workers and their small business employers in construction and general industry in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties, Florida. The grantee will build upon its FY 2010 Capacity Building - Pilot grant by providing enhanced training in additional locations. Training and materials will be provided in Spanish and Creole.

The grantee will build long term health and safety capacity and provide training to farm owners, farm operators, and farm workers (including youth) on safety and health hazards related to grain storage and handling. Training will target small commercial grain storage facilities with focus on post-harvest grain storage and handling and will be conducted through a combination of in-person, online, and webinar components.

The grantee will build long term health and safety capacity and provide training on ergonomic hazards in the construction industry in California. The grantee will update its 2002 curriculum and conduct train-the-trainer sessions and educational workshops/sessions for union leaders, apprenticeship instructors, employers, supervisors, safety staff, and construction workers. Training and materials will be provided in Spanish.

The grantee will build long term health and safety capacity and provide ergonomics training to limited limited-English and low -literacy nursing home workers. The training will include both worker training and a train-the-trainer program. Training and materials will be provided in Spanish.

The grantee will develop a 6-module training course for at-risk workers in small sawmills (millwork). Target audiences include minority workers and youth workers. Topics will include maintenance operations, production operations, primary breakdown of logs including heading, secondary breakdown of logs including edging and trimming, log handling, and forklift safety.
