Overview
To provide ADSC members and others in the foundation drilling industry,
including small businesses and non-English or limited English speaking
employees, with information, guidance, and access to training resources that
will help them protect employees' health and safety. Federal OSHA Region IX,
Cal/OSHA and the WCC-ADSC will focus on safety and health issues including, fall
protection, silica, pinch-point and equipment operation hazards, and natural gas
associated with drilling and tunneling.

Implementation Team Meetings
On March 23, 2009, a conference call was conducted between to discuss training
opportunities for Federal OSHA and CalOSHA CSHOs.
On May 15, 2009, an annual meeting was conducted at the Holiday Inn, Sacramento,
CA between Federal OSHA and the President, Executive Director, and two
co-chairs.

Training and Education
Events
The ADSC-WCC provided training for 2 Federal OSHA Compliance Officers and 4
CalOSHA Compliance Officers at the drill Operators Training Class, Local 3 –
Northern California in Rancho Murietta, CA from March 26 to 28, 2009. The
classroom training included safety awareness, drilling tools and equipment,
construction math, chemistry, and the history of drilling. The field training
includes operating different drill rigs, and hands on slurry school.
Federal OSHA and CalOSHA participated in the ADSC-WCC Annual Conference on May
15 at the Holiday Inn, Sacramento, CA. Peter Wilsey, Compliance Assistance
Specialist, gave a presentation about the history of the alliance, examples of
products created by alliances, and a description on developing alliance
products. Mike Donlan, Senior Safety Engineer gave a presentation on hazards of
the drill shaft industry.
Outreach and Communication
Events
On May 15, Peter Wilsey set up and staffed a booth with Compliance Assistance
products at ADSC-WCC Annual Conference on May 15 at the Holiday Inn, Sacramento,
CA.
Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health
Events
Federal OSHA and CalOSHA participated in the ADSC-WCC Annual Conference on May
15 at the Holiday Inn, Sacramento, CA. Peter Wilsey, Compliance Assistance
Specialist, gave a presentation about the history of the alliance, examples of
products created by alliances, and a description on developing alliance
products. Mike Donlan, Senior Safety Engineer gave a presentation on hazards of
the drill shaft industry.

Results
The Alliance focused on cross-training opportunities between the Alliance
members, the two OSHA agencies, as well as the California State Department of
Transportation. The WCC-ADSC has provided a better understanding of what the
Drill Shaft alliance members do in their line of work, and the OSHA Agencies
provided training on the hazards of their type of work.

Upcoming Milestones
As part of the alliance, Federal OSHA intends to give a presentation at the
October 23, 2009 NDOT Education Drill Shaft Meeting with the ADSC- WCC and NV
DOT.
