Training and Education
- Events
On March 13, 2007, OSHA conducted scaffold training to 30 ARA members and
customers with assistance from Biljax scaffold manufacturer’s representatives.
This training focused on the historical high loss areas of scaffold erection and
use. Scaffold safety educational material was also provided by OSHA and the
manufacturer.
- Products
OSHA provided over 9,650 OSHA quick cards (English and Spanish) to the ARA of
Colorado for distribution to several hundred contractors via the 55 member
equipment rental stores. These informational safety products discussed hazards
and hazard protection for; fall, struck-by, electric shock, and other hazards.
Outreach and Communication
- Products
OSHA worked with ARA of Colorado to successfully incorporate additions to the
ARA of Colorado website to provide content/links for ARA member equipment rental
stores. OSHA fatal facts were added as website content, targeting specific
hazards in the equipment rental industry such as; falls, electric shock,
struck-by, and caught-by.
A link to the OSHA home page was created on the ARA of Colorado website.
As an informational resource with OSHA, CSHO Dailey’s e-mail address was
provided on the website.
Promoting the National Dialogue
- Products
OSHA established a dialogue with several national representatives to include
the Senior Vice President, Operations/CFO, ARA, Director State and Local
Services, ARA, and Risk Manager, ARA Insurance Services. OSHA discussed with
them, methods for development of safety and health informational products,
training, and also explored other strategies to add value to the ARA loss
control. These discussions resulted in both the ARA and ARA Insurance Services
expressing a strong interest in expanding the ARA of Colorado Alliance to the
national level.
During this reporting period, the OSHA Alliance Implementation Team did not
start work on programs or projects to address this goal.
- Results
The alliance established in 2006 between the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration and the American Rental Association of Colorado has been
concluded and will not be renewed beyond the evaluation period of October 1,
2008. As illustrated by the chart below the alliance achieved limited
measureable success.
