AGREEMENT RENEWING AN ALLIANCE
BETWEEN
THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION

THE OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
CAREER CENTER
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Omaha Area Office and the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) – Career Center recognize
the value of renewing their collaborative relationship to foster safer and more
healthful American workplaces, particularly for young workers. OSHA and OPS –
Career Center hereby agree to renew the Alliance signed on March 2, 2005,
renewed on February 27, 2007, to continue to provide information, guidance, and
access to training resources that will help protect student’s health and safety,
particularly through increased awareness, recognition, and avoidance of hazards
associated with the construction industry. In renewing this Alliance, OSHA and
OPS – Career Center recognize that OSHA’s State Plan and On-site Consultation
Project partners are an integral part of the OSHA national effort.
OSHA and the OPS-Career Center will work together to achieve the following
training and education goals:
- Develop training and education programs that introduce safety and health
education into the core curriculum of the career center programs.
- Secure OSHA Outreach Authorized Trainer status for OPS Career Center
instructors interested becoming Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers.
- Integrate the OSHA Outreach Training program into the Career Center
curriculum for those students interested in completing the OSHA 10-Hour
Outreach Training program.
OSHA and the OPS-Career Center will work together to
achieve the following outreach and communication goals:
- Develop and disseminate information through print and electronic media,
including electronic assistance tools and links from OSHA’s and the Career
Center’s Web site.
- Speak, exhibit, or appear at Career Center classes, programs, or conferences
as appropriate.
OSHA and the OPS-Career Center will work together to
achieve the following goals related to promoting the national dialogue on
workplace safety and health:
- Raise others’ awareness of workplace safety and health for students and
other young workers whenever OSHA or OPS-Career Center leaders address groups.
- Develop and disseminate case studies illustrating the value of safety and
health training for students in vocational, technical, and career education
centers and publicize their results.
- Convene or participate in forums, round table discussions, or stakeholder
meetings to help forge innovative solutions to safety and health issues in the
industry of trades education or to provide input on safety and health issues in
career education centers.
OSHA’s Alliances provide parties an opportunity to
participate in a voluntary, cooperative relationship with OSHA for purposes such
as training and education, outreach and communication and promoting a national
dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be
valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an
Alliance with a party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party’s products or
services; nor does the Agency enter into an Alliance with the purpose of
promoting a particular party’s products or services.
An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will
meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the
roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at
least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in
achieving the goals of the Alliance.
This agreement will remain in effect for a two year period. Either signatory may
terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written
notice. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of both
signatories.
