Upcoming Plans
This Alliance is complimentary to the SMACNA Partnership. The SMACNA Partnership provides the
“management commitment” and the Sheet Metal Workers Union Alliance provides the “employee
involvement” elements necessary to change the culture of this industry, in accordance with the
elements of an effective safety and health management system as set forth in the “1989 Voluntary
Guidelines for and Effective Safety and Health Management System”. This dynamic interaction of the
Alliance with the Partnership should serve as a model for future cooperative efforts within an
industry.
Future plans are to continue to support the Sheet Metal Worker Local #2 with it's efforts to provide
enhanced OSHA 30- hour safety and health training to their Apprentices, as part of the Union
Apprenticeship program. Additionally, we plan to provide training sessions on specific needs topics
such as fall protection and LO/TO to their journeyman level Union members.
