To provide DMACC Business Resources faculty and students with information, guidance and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure, through training, to occupational safety hazards and addressing occupational health issues.

- Events
On 2/1/05 the Des Moines Area Office conducted an OSHA presentation for a class at DMACC Business Resources. There were approximately 20 students present. The presentation was three hours in length and included topics such as amputations, ergonomics, violence in the workplace and a question and answer session.

IV. Results
The alliance helps enhance the safety and health knowledge of students attending courses at DMACC Business Resources. They are able to interact with OSHA personnel and provides them the opportunity to ask safety and health questions and acquire answers to those questions.

Staffing changes in the Des Moines Area Office had an impact on the effectiveness of the program during its first year. All staffing changes are complete so this should not affect the second year of the alliance.
V. Upcoming Milestones
Meet and develop an action plan for the upcoming year. Due to staffing and management changes in the Des Moines Area Office an introductory meeting will need to be held and discuss plans for the upcoming year.
