Alliance Background Date Signed: March 24, 2006 End Date: March 24, 2007 Overview: OSHA and the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston an Alliance to provide Hispanic workers in the Houston area with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to occupational safety and health hazards during hurricane response and clean –up activities. Implementation team Members: Consulate General of Mexico (CGM)

Implementation Team Meetings: The Houston North and Houston South Area Office’s Compliance Assistance Specialists attended several planning meetings at the Mexican Consulate. In addition, the Region VI DRA Joe Reina had several meetings with the Mexican consulate related to Hispanic worker safety. III. Events and Products Training and Education
Hundreds of Hispanic employees were provided information related to hurricane Katrina and Rita clean up hazards along the Gulf Coast. Contacts and support information was exchanged between OSHA and the Mexican Consulate to assist efforts in the New Orleans area. V. Upcoming Milestones None. |
