Alliance Annual and Close-Out Report February 4, 2008 HOUSTON AREA OFFICES AND THE ASSOCIATION OF GENERAL CONTRACTORS – HOUSTON CHAPTER |

I. Alliance Background Date Signed: July 9, 2004 End Date: July 6, 2006 Overview: OSHA and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Houston Chapter hereby form an Alliance to provide AGC members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to occupational safety and health hazards such as electrical, falls, struck-by, and caught-between hazards in the construction industry pertaining to Hispanic workers. Implementation team Members: Associated General Contractors (AGC) Chris Roberts, AGCUSDOL/OSHA Kelly Knighton, Houston North AOEvaluation Period: July 9, 2004 through July 6, 2006 II. Implementation Team Meetings: This was the second resigning of this Alliance. The Houston North and Houston South Area Office’s Compliance Assistance Specialists assist with the quarterly Spanish safety training class and speak with AGC representatives each month at the safety committee meeting and as needed during the year. IV. Results Since the inception of this Alliance in 2002, over 675 Spanish speaking construction workers received this training at no cost. This Alliance has been highly effective at reaching Spanish speaking construction workers through the use of AGC and OSHA volunteers. In 2004 Assistant Secretary Henshaw recognized Grace Fox, lead instructor, for her efforts supporting this alliance. V. Upcoming Milestones The quarterly training classes continue to be offered each quarter. The Alliance has concluded. |
