Overview:
OSHA, Georgia Tech, and GNHA hereby form an Alliance to provide GNHA's members
and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that
will help them protect nursing home employees' health and safety, particularly
in reducing and preventing exposure to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD),
bloodborne pathogens, falls, workplace violence and other hazards.
- Implementation Team Membership and Contributors:
Representatives from OSHA and Georgia Health Care Association conducted all
required quarterly meeting by teleconferencing, formal meetings and training
sessions on the following dates: 10/10/2007, 01/23/2008, and 07/23/2008.

Events
- On October 10, 2007, OSHA and the GTRI conducted an 8-hour safety and
health seminar in Stockbridge, GA. The seminar focused several topics
including Introduction to OSHA, Pandemic Flu, Recordkeeping, Bloodborne
Pathogen, Personal Protective Equipment, Ergonomics, Needlesticks and
Electrical safety.
- On October 11, 2007, OSHA and the GTRI conducted an 8-hour safety and
health seminar in Gray, GA. The seminar focused several topics including
Introduction to OSHA, Pandemic Flu, Recordkeeping, Bloodborne Pathogen,
Personal Protective Equipment, Ergonomics, Needlesticks and Electrical safety.
- On October 12, 2007, OSHA and the GTRI conducted an 8-hour safety and
health seminar in Savannah, GA. The seminar focused several topics including
Introduction to OSHA, Pandemic Flu, Recordkeeping, Bloodborne Pathogen,
Personal Protective Equipment, Ergonomics, Needlesticks and Electrical safety.

Events
- Representative from OSHA and the Georgia Tech Onsite Consultation Program
participated in the 2008 GHCA Mid-Winter Conference at the Cobb County
Galleria. The event was conducted January 23 - 24, 2008. Safety and health
training during the event focused on Pandemic Flu. OSHA also participated in
the event as an exhibitor, which was attended by over 1,200 employers and
employees.

- Upcoming Milestones in FY 2009
- Participation in the 2009 GHCA Mid-Winter Conference. The event is
scheduled for January 28 - 29, 2009 at the Cobb County Galleria, in Georgia.
- Schedule and conduct OSHA safety and health seminars - Training planned
for February 19 and 20, 2009 in Savannah, February 23 and 24, 2009 in
Stockbridge, and March 30 and 31, 2009 in Gray, GA. Pandemic Flu and other
related topics will be covered.
