  1. Alliance Background

    Overview

    The Alliance was formed to provide students, local businesses, emergency responders and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect themselves and/or their employees’ health and safety particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to hazards associated with emergency preparedness and response, respiratory protection, means of egress, emergency action plans, fire prevention and/or addressing the needs of developing and implementation of effective safety and health programs.

    Training and Education
    • Events

      No training or education events took place this past year. All of our meetings have been focused on information that may and will be used for outreach sessions by educators at Northampton Community College (NCC).
       
    • Products

      No new OSHA products developed during this time-frame. However, based on meetings, NCC has developed two new lesson plans for their courses – Operational Hazard Communication and Regulatory Awareness of Hazardous Materials Transportation.

  4. Milestones

    There have been no outreach milestones yet to report. However, the development and subsequent OSHA review of the two lesson plans (noted above) has been well received by NCC. It should be noted that during our last meeting on November 19, 2008, it was discussed that NCC through this Alliance is going to host a half-day series of Occupational Safety and Health Seminars to cover OSHA Recordkeeping Regulations, Fall Protection Issues in General Industry, Emergency Action Plans, Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response Operations and Interfacing with Emergency Responders. This event has been scheduled for May 20, 2009.

    It is strongly recommended that this Alliance continue.
