    Alliance Overview.

    Provide expertise to IUE-CWA Local 101 to develop training and education programs for employees regarding workplace hazards in the lighting industry, and to provide expertise in communicating such information to the employees.

    Deliver or arrange for the delivery of courses in such topics as workers rights and responsibilities, machine guarding, conveyor safety, hearing protection and hearing conservation.

    Phone calls were made quarterly and an onsite meeting was conducted on May 6, 2009.

      None- The employer has experienced massive layoffs going from 850 employees down to about 200 union employees.

  4. Results

    A major problem is that we have not had any training sessions because the union is worried about massive job losses. Future training depends on the employment situation. If the employer obtains additional work they will be hiring a lot of the union employees that have been laid off, if not the layoff spiral may continue.

  5. Upcoming Milestones

    At this point the alliance has been stagnant due to job losses within the sector. Due to these factors the IUE-CWA 101 is unable to commit time to this agreement, therefore the agreement is going to be closed. OSHA welcomes future opportunities to work with IUE-CWA 101 in the future when resources are more favorable.
