    Alliance Overview:

    This Alliance was formed to provide the union membership and others with information, guidance and access to training resources that helped to protect their on the job safety & health.

  2. Implementation Team Meetings

    Quarterly Implementation Team meetings were conducted throughout the life of the Alliance.

     
  3. Activities and Products

    The report period covers 10-29-04, date of signing to 4-16-09 closeout date.

    Alliance Activity:
     
    • Training and Education: Numerous OSHA 10 Construction and General Industry Programs conducted for high school students, alternative high school students, teachers and others, had assistance from union personnel.
    • Outreach and Communication: Alliance partners attended and participated in Northern NJ Federal Safety & health Council Quarterly Meetings.
    • Promoting the National Dialogue on Safety and Health: see above
    Alliance Products.
     
    • Training and Education: OSHA 10 Program components were enhanced by the Fall Protection and Ladder Safety information developed by union trainers.
    • Outreach and Communication: Alliance signatory, Charles Messick was nominated, approved and accepted membership in the NJ State Industrial Safety Committee. The Committee advises the NJ State Labor Commissioner on worker safety & health matters.
    • Promoting the National Dialogue on Safety and Health: see above
       
  4. Results

    This proactive Alliance was instrumental in the training of several hundred young workers and their teachers. In addition, the Alliance resulted in the OSHA 10 training for members of another OSHA Alliance partner – the NJ Glass & Metal Contractors Association.
