Alliance Measurement Data An initial meeting was held on February 28, 2003 to discuss the formation of an alliance. A follow-up meeting and signing of the Alliance was held on April 14, 2003. A joint training session was held on July 23, 2003 at the MSO, Providence, RI. The training session was a 4 hour session. OSHA conducted 2 hours and the USCG conducted 2 hours. The training conducted encompassed the following topics: cranes, overhead loads, scaffolds, electrical safety, health hazards, OSHA internet resources and USCG jurisdiction and inspection procedures.
Further, it was agreed that USCG personnel will accompany OSHA compliance officers on boatyard and marina inspections during the spring and summer of 2004.
Impact of Alliance This alliance has been a benefit to both OSHA and the MSO, Providence, RI. The Joint training has allowed both agencies to gain a better understanding of each others responsibilities and jurisdictions. The alliance has also helped to foster mutual assistance in the area of Homeland Security.
Significant Changes LCDR. James McLaughlin transfer from MSO Providence, RI to Cleveland Ohio in July 2003. LCDR. Jennifer Williams replaced LCDR. McLaughlin.
Alliance Challenges The coordination of schedules to conduct joint inspections.
Plans to improve the alliance More and better communication and interaction.
Recommendations Both parties have agreed to continue the alliance for another year.
