The Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA), Connecticut Department of Labor Division of Occupational Safety and
Health (Conn OSHA) and Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative
relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. CBIA is the country's larges state-wide business association
with more than 10,000 member companies throughout the state.
OSHA, Conn OSHA and CBIA hereby form and Alliance to use their collective expertise to help foster a culture of prevention through
sharing best practices and technical knowledge to promote safe and healthful working conditions for CBIA member-compnay employees by:
- Providing CBIA members with information and guidance that will help them protect employees health and safety, by reducing and preventing
exposure to workplace hazards.
- Increasing access to safety and health information and training resources.
OSHA, Conn OSHA and CBIA will work together to achieve the following training and
education goals:
- Develop training and education programs on workplace safety issues relevant to CBIA's member-companies.
- Deliver or arrange for the delivery of safety courses.
- Enhance CBIA's current offerings of workplace safety and health curricula.
OSHA, Conn OSHA and CBIA will work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals:
- Develop and disseminate information at conferences, events, or through print and electronic
media, including links from OSHA's
and CBIA's Web sites.
- Speak, exhibit, or appear at conferences, local meetings, or other events.
- Promote and encourage CBIA member-companies participation in OSHA's cooperative programs such as compliances assistance, the
Voluntary
Protection Program, Consultation, and SHARP.
OSHA, Conn OSHA and CBIA will work together to achieve the following goals related to
promoting the national dialogue
on workplace safety and health:
- Raise others awareness of, and demonstrate their commitment to, workplace safety and health at times when CBIA representatives address
groups.
- Convene or participate in forums, round table discussions, or stakeholder meeting on
safety and health issues to help forge innovative
solutions to safety issues in the workplace or to provide input on safety and health issues.
- Highlight and publicize stories of CBIA-member companies through print or electronic media.
An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action,
determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least quarterly
to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliances.
This agreement will remain in effect for two years. Either may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written
notice. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of all signatories.
