The Alliance Program’s influence on improving worker health and safety is being
felt in the global community.
Ghanaian Delegation:
On January 12, 2005, Lee Anne Jillings, Director of Outreach Services and
Alliances, spoke to representatives of the Ghanaian Delegation about “OSHA’s
Alliance Program and Outreach Services.” As a result of her presentation the
Ghanaian Delegation expressed an interest in developing their own Alliance
Program.
World Congress on Safety and Health at Work:
The World Congress on Safety and Health at Work was held September 18-22, 2005
in Orlando, Florida. The theme of this Congress was “Prevention in a Globalized
World – Success Through Partnerships.” Presentations included information on
successful Alliance projects and products, and OSHA’s other cooperative
programs. The Department of Labor used this event as an opportunity to showcase
initiatives in the workplace safety and health field.
Korean Delegation:
On March 29, 2006, OSHA staff spoke to representatives of the Korean Delegation
about OSHA’s Alliance Program and other cooperative programs. As a result of
the presentations, the Korean delegation expressed an interest in developing
cooperative programs.
Spanish Delegation:
On November 1, 2006, Lee Anne Jillings, Director of Outreach Services and
Alliances, spoke to representatives of the Spanish Delegation about “OSHA’s
Alliance Program and Outreach Services.” As a result of her presentation the
Spanish Delegation expressed an interest in developing their own Alliance
Program.
Trinidad Tobago Delegation:
On September 18, 2007, Robert Swick, Program Analyst, Office of Outreach
Services and Alliances (OOSA), Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs
(DCSP) and Barnett Lawrence, Compliance Assistance Coordinator, OOSA, DCSP,;
spoke to representatives of the Trinidad Tobago Delegation about “OSHA’s
Alliance Program and Outreach Services.” As a result of their presentation, the
Trinidad Tobago Delegation expressed an interest in developing cooperative
programs.
U.S. / European Union (EU):
On November 7-9, 2007, Lee Anne Jillings, Director, Office of Outreach Services
and Alliances (OOSA), Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs (DCSP)
presented information on case studies developed through the Alliance Program
during the Fifth Annual European Union (E.U.) – United States (U.S.) Conference
on Health and Safety at Work. Lee Anne Jillings discussed the case studies
developed through the Alliance Program to illustrate the success of several
strategic approaches used in the U.S. to worker Safety and Health.
United Kingdom (UK) Health and Safety Executive (HSE):
The U.K. Health and Safety Executive (HSE) signed an agreement January 27, 2006
with EEF, an organization representing the manufacturing industry, to promote
effective safety and health management across manufacturing industries in the
United Kingdom. The UK agreement’s goals, similar to OSHA’s Alliance Program,
focus on best practices, developing training courses and seminars and working
with occupational safety and health professionals.
