  • June 6, 2007: Department of Labor (DOL) Safety Day, Francis Perkins Building, Washington, DC.
    • NSC representatives staffed an Alliance Program exhibit booth and distributed safety and health information during the DOL Safety Day.
  •  June 4-29, 2007: NSC's National Safety Month June 2007. During National Safety Month, the NSC and its chapters around the country provide information, programs and solutions to help people prepare for emergencies and prevent injuries and fatalities. Each week of the month had a special focus - workplace safety, driving safety, emergency preparedness and home and community.
  • May 6-12, 2007: 2007 North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week. The National Safety Council and a number of other Alliance Program participants supported 2007 NAOSH Week; "All Modes of Transportation." Sponsored annually by the American Society of Safety Engineers, an Alliance Program participant, and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, the Week focuses on the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
    • May 7, 2007: Representatives of NSC attended the NAOSH Week Kick-off event at the U.S. Department of Labor. Edwin G. Foulke, Jr., former-Assistant Secretary, USDOL-OSHA, was the keynote speaker and presented "The Road to Safety" to OSHA and Alliance Program participants and other safety and health representatives.
  • November 5-9, 2006: 2006 National Safety Congress and Expo, San Diego County Convention Center, San Diego, California.
    • November 6-8, 2006: Veneta Chatmon, Exhibits and Meeting Specialist, Office of Communications, USDOL-OSHA, staffed an OSHA exhibition booth.
    • November 6, 2006: Edwin G. Foulke, Jr., former-Assistant Secretary, USDOL-OSHA, gave a keynote presentation about OSHA's initiatives and its balanced approach to achieving the Agency's goals.
    • November 6, 2006: Paul Wigger, Safety Specialist, Region II, Albany, New York Area Office, USDOL-OSHA; Kurt Petermeyer, Assistant Area Director, Region IV, Savannah, Georgia Area Office, USDOL-OSHA; Mary Bauer, Compliance Assistance Specialist, Region V, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Area Office, USDOL-OSHA; Sandra Taylor, Deputy Regional Administrator, Region V, USDOL-OSHA; and Jo Gaither, Occupational Safety and Health Specialist, Region VII, Wichita, Kansas Area Office, USDOL-OSHA, presented "Most Interesting OSHA Cases."
    • November 6, 2006: Dorothy Dougherty, Director, Directorate of Standards and Guidance, USDOL-OSHA; Richard Fairfax, Director, Directorate of Enforcement Programs, USDOL-OSHA; Ruth McCully, then-Director, Directorate of Science, Technology and Medicine (DSTM), USDOL-OSHA; Paula O. White, then-Director, Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs (DCSP), USDOL-OSHA; and Keith Motley, Division Director, Salt Lake Technical Center, Utah, presented "OSHA Program Update."
    • November 6, 2006: Lee Anne Jillings, then-Director, Office of Outreach Services and Alliances, DCSP, USDOL-OSHA; Diana Cortez, Director, Region II, Tarrytown, New York Area Office, USDOL-OSHA; and Danezza Quniterro, Senior Safety and Health Specialist; Office of Construction Services, Directorate of Construction (DOC), USDOL-OSHA, presented "Success of the Alliance Program: Hispanic Outreach."
    • November 6, 2006: Robert Nester, Occupational Health Nurse, Office of Occupational Health Nursing, DSTM, USDOL-OSHA, presented "Analysis of Incidents Involving Young Workers."
    • November 6, 2006: Barnett Lawrence, Office of Outreach Services and Alliances, DCSP, USDOL-OSHA; and Cathleen Cronin, Chief, Division of Training and Educational Development, Office of Training and Education, USDOL-OSHA, presented "Getting the Most Out of OSHA's Web Site."
    • November 7, 2006: Lee Anne Jillings, then-Director, Office of Outreach Services and Alliances, DCSP, USDOL-OSHA, presented "Success of the Alliance Program: Best Practices."

    • November 8, 2006: Donald Wright, M.D., then-Director, Office of Occupational Medicine, DSTM, USDOL-OSHA; Elena Carr, Drug Policy Coordinator, USDOL; and Bill Palmisano, Administrator, MOST Programs, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, presented "Safe is Drug-Free: A Collaborative Approach."
  • September 18-23, 2005: XVII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, Orlando, Florida.
    • September 21-23, 2005: Veneta Chatman, Exhibits and Meetings Specialist, Office of Communications, USDOL-OSHA, staffed the OSHA exhibit booth.
    • September 19, 2005: Robert Nester, Occupational Health Nurse, Office of Occupational Health Nursing, Directorate of Science, Technology and Medicine (DSTM), USDOL-OSHA, was one of several speakers whom presented at a workshop entitled, "Young Workers in the U.S.: The Injury Problem and Promising Prevention Strategies," during the XVII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.
    • September 21, 2005: Update on Some of OSHA's Recent Activities, Jonathan L. Snare, former-Acting Assistant Secretary, USDOL-OSHA. During the Occupational Keynote Address, Mr. Snare updated the National Safety Council Congress on the recent activities of OSHA. Following his speech, Mr. Snare signed the OSHA/National Safety Council Alliance renewal agreement.

    • September 21, 2005: Cathy Oliver, Director, Office of Partnerships and Recognition, Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs (DCSP), USDOL-OSHA; and Stew Burkhammer, then-Director, Office of Construction Services, Directorate of Construction (DOC), USDOL-OSHA, presented with others in a workshop entitled, "OSHA's New VPP and Challenge for Construction," during the National Safety Congress.

During the Occupational Keynote Address, Mr. Henshaw updated the National Safety Council Congress on the recent activities of OSHA. Following his speech, Mr. Henshaw signed the OSHA/National Safety Council Alliance.
    • September 9, 2003: OSHA Updates [PPT* - 8 MB], Paula White, then-Director, Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs, USDOL-OSHA, participated on a panel with other OSHA Directorate heads and updated the attendees on OSHA's cooperative programs, including Alliances, the Voluntary Protection Programs, Strategic Partnerships, the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program and Consultation.
