World Congress on Safety and Health At Work
World Congress Abstracts Now Being Accepted "Prevention in a Globalized World - Success Through Partnerships" is the theme for the XVII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, to be held in Orlando, Florida from September 18-22, 2005. This is the first time in its 50-year history that the event is being held in the United States. The World Congress is an innovative forum for international discussion and debate on current inter-disciplinary issues relating to all aspects of prevention. It will focus on ways to strengthen partnerships among governments, employers, workers, NGO's and safety and health professionals to improve workplace safety and health throughout the world. The National Safety Council is one of the organizers of the event and serves as the American host of the conference. Themes for the 2005 World Congress include:
The Department of Labor (OSHA, MSHA, ILAB) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), are providing support for the World Congress and are participating as important government partners of the National Organizing Committee. The Department considers this an opportunity to showcase initiatives in the workplace safety and health field. Support for the World Congress is welcome- as speakers and attendees. Anyone interested is encouraged to submit innovative research and practice-oriented contributions on the Congress themes. Based on the summary, the National Program Committee will decide in which format the contribution fits (parallel sessions, workshop, panel discussions, etc.). The National Safety Congress issued a "Call for Papers" publication, which describes the invitation in more detail. Please see this publication on www.safety2005.org .
