Teens may be exposed to cold temperatures while carrying groceries to cars or
if working outdoors. |
Some tips to avoid cold illnesses include:
- Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
- Wear warm, layered clothing in cold weather, including hat and gloves. In cold weather, pay special attention to protecting
feet, hands, face, and head. Up to 40 % of body heat can be lost when the head is exposed.
- Take frequent, short breaks indoors to warm up.
- Learn to recognize and seek medical help for yourself or co-workers that have
symptoms of cold related stresses.
