Colorimetric Analysis of Quartz Introduction

The colorimetric method of quartz analysis, once the only method used to analyze PAT samples, no longer enjoys a high degree of popularity. The method is still employed, primarily because it is inexpensive, but has many drawbacks. Most any silicate can interfere, and the results are less precise and accurate than the XRD or IR method. PAT results indicate recoveries tend to be LOWER than by IR or XRD.
