FOREWORD This report was prepared by Martin Marietta Laboratories, Baltimore, Maryland, and Marcom Associates, Inc., Annandale, Virginia, under USBM Contract Number J0235005. It was administered under the technical direction of the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Pittsburgh Research Center, with Vinit Mody acting as Technical Project Officer. Jon Volkwein was the contract administrator for the Bureau of Mines. This report is a summary of the work recently completed as a part of this contract during the period September 1983 to September 1985. This report was submitted by the authors in February 1987. Mr. Vinit Mody, program manager and principal author, was assisted by co-author Mr. Rajendra Jakhete. Ms Angela Mulloy of Marcom Associates, Inc., directed the technical editing and preparation.
