General Working Conditions

This image illustrates the variety of working conditions while performing ship repair.
Many conditions and operations in the shipyard that may produce hazards must be evaluated and controlled. Some of these include: Note: Department of Transportation markings must be maintained on hazardous material containers. Department of Transportation Markings [29 CFR 1915.100] refers to the Hazard Communication Standard [29 CFR 1910.1200].

Note: Confined space entry is one of the leading hazards associated with barge cleaning. Review the Ship Repair: Confined/Enclosed Spaces and Other Dangerous Atmospheres chapter for information on how to protect workers from this hazard.
